CEI: ASL-Advanced Interpreter Training

ASL - Advanced Interpreter Training
Worship Center Balcony
Leader: Denise Oviatt, CI/CT

Sunday, Sept 7 – Nov 23
5:30-6:30 pm

The worst thing about beginning to interpret is the feeling of being unprepared to use ASL in real-life settings. In this class, opportunity is given to interpret in a non-threatening environment. The students practice interpreting anything that's included in Calvary's evening worship services and takes place in the balcony, so the students interpret to the instructor and other class members, not to deaf. The instructor watches and gives help when necessary in grammar, vocabulary, and conceptualization. Many students remain after the evening service to go to the ASL-Intermediate class for further reinforcement of skills. Advanced students may be asked to help less-experienced students with their skills. New students are welcome to join who have at least three years of signing experience.
